2. The Adirondacks Are Home to Several Species of Flora and Fauna

3. The Adirondack Mountains Are Massive

 
The Adirondack mountains are estimated to occupy at least 6 million acres of land. To give you a clear picture, it is the size of Yellowstone, Yosemite, the Grand Canyon, Glacier, and the Great Smoky Mountains put together.
 

4. The Name Adirondack is a Tribal Name of the Native Habit

 
First Nation Mohawks and Algonquins once occupied the area around the mountains long before other settlers came. The Algonquin resorted to eating tree bark during the famine. So, the Mohawks called them Haderondah, meaning bark eaters. As the other settlers came, they pronounced it Adirondack.
 

5. The Adirondack Mountains Are the Source of the Hudson River

 
The famous Hudson River that snakes through New York City has its source at Lake Tear of the Clouds on Mount Marcy.
